SO I never had the actual 80s-90s Polly POCKETS…from the play sets that actually fit in your pockets
I had the Fashion Polly dolls. I had almost all of the original ones from 1999. I was only missing two or three sets.
Polly Pocket was my niche. I had over a hundred of them, I think. I loved them so much. Dressing them up, making them waddle around, making up stories as I went.
I loved visiting my friends and playing Polly Pocket at their house too.
And the website? You couldn’t get me off of there. I constantly made wish lists of every set I wanted and didn’t have.
I had no clue there were vintage sets, until I started researching them in my spare time a few years ago.
Polly Pocket sorta died for me as their painted undergarments got smaller, their limbs became looser, and their faces looked more artificial and fake than usual.
And the whole magnet scandal? I thought it was weird at the time, and I hated then generation anyway but still. I liked the concept of changing the doll’s clothes just by sliding her through a limo.
I tried to get a refund on those sets when my mom informed me I could, but it was too late by the time I remembered I could.
I just saw Polly Pocket now. You can barely clothe them/move them. They look so fake, and are larger than ever.
Polly Pocket was my bitch and I hate to see how Mattel or whoever changed her over the years.
